I had the pleasure of working on the core Jaeger team at Double Negative on Pacific Rim: Uprising.
As I was the leading modeller on the main Jaeger, Gipsy Avenger, I was brought onto the project at a very early stage right up until the end of production. Modelling wise we only had a couple of concept arts to work from which meant I was also responsible for a lot of design work.
After the blocking out stage it was a matter of progressively detailing Gipsy Avenger to make it suitable for even the most extreme close-ups which was quite the undertaking.
At later stages in the project and when trailer deadlines demanded it, I was also responsible for out-sourcing (internal) parts of Gipsy Avenger to DN artists around the globe and making sure work was of appropriate standard and done in time.
LookDev: Shaun Scott / Marc Austin, Texturing: Daniel Favini.
After finishing work on Gipsy Avenger we started on damage modelling and I had the pleasure to do damage on multiple Jaegers.
